Existing volunteers will now only be asked to read the current update / “lessons learned.” document “2019 Existing Volunteers Training Report” and sign a declaration to that effect. Just declaration 2019
However we highly recommend that a bi-annual refresher course is attended.
We are very conscious that previous years’ training sessions have been quite long
We are determined to reduce down the time spent to no more than two hours for new hospitality volunteers
New volunteers MUST attend one of our training sessions. It is worth you reading our B4N 2018 Report
We do not DBS check our volunteers on the basis that you do not have prolonged or ongoing contact with our guests . However we hope that everyone appreciates that we are concerned for the safety of our volunteers and guests. Some of our guests do pose a genuine risk both to you, other guests and to themselves. That is why we insist on training you.
As a trained volunteer you are covered by Faith Christian Group’s Public Liability Insurance
No-one who has not been trained will be allowed in the venues between 7.30 pm and 9.00 am That does allow for untrained individuals, even under 18’s, to help with set up provided they are not in the building after 7.30 pm or before 9.00 am the next morning.
Church employed staff on the premises who have not done our training will be there at their own risk.
Overnight volunteers and co-ordinators will be required to do a greater in depth training than normal volunteers.
Current remaining training dates for the 2019 shelter are confirmed as:
